Join us for an intimate evening of music at Rogers Park's fine wine store on Sheridan Rd. We'll be doing two sets of original music and covers to carry you through the evening. Jason, Davis, and Brett will be joined by Sophie Creutz on woodwinds.
Secrets of the Beehive is a project formed by vocalist and keyboardist/percussionist Jason Winslade in 2014, as a vehicle for Pagan spirituals he wrote on a shruti box around festival fires, where he had been a drummer for almost 30 years. Based on his love for introspective and spiritual music, progressive post-punk music of the 80s, and various musical traditions from around the world played with live dancers, Jason formed a working group to create and perform this music live.
After several iterations over the years working with an array of fantastic musicians, the Beehive lineup solidified around guitarist Davis Krieg and bassist Brett Taylor in 2022. While mostly performing, writing, and recording as a trio, Secrets of the Beehive still occasionally collaborates with a wide range of guest musicians who contribute drums, cello, violin, woodwinds, and more, including dancers.
They have performed at various venues around Chicago, including Montrose Saloon, Gallery Cabaret, Elastic Arts, Newport Theater, Ritual Rhythms Creative Studio, the Underground Art Gallery, Porchfest, and recently at the Faeries of the Forest festival in South Elgin. They are currently working on two full-length releases including "Songs from the Fire," and "Hollow Earth."
