At AMO, art isn't merely about colors and brushes. We breathe new life into objects often deemed as "junk," or “trash”, molding them into narratives and objects of beauty and meaning. In this this engagement of ultimate creativity, we hope to nurture an appreciation for the artful potential of waste, interesting and ordinary items most often discarded, promoting sustainable practices within a rich, collaborative environment where every single human feels they belong and is free and safe to come as they are, and be totally safe to be themselves as they create, imagine and collaborate.
75% or more of the materials we utilize in our classes, camps, and workshops were collected from community members and local businesses, and were otherwise destined for landfills or the ocean.
We are community-centric: at the heart of AMO is a commitment to building community, inclusivity, anti-racism, diversity, a true sense of belonging for all with equity at the forefront of everything we do. Every individual is always welcome to join us in our inclusive space and feel a sense of belonging. We offer no barrier scholarships for all youth programs on a request and you shall receive a basis. We believe art is a necessity for everyone and by providing opportunities for art making in a sustainable way, we can all help to create a healthier planet
Meet our songwriters:
Rebecca Jasso
Chicago native Rebecca Jasso is a singer/songwriter who playfully writes around the themes of nature, loneliness, and fantasy, skillfully weaving her melodies into the harmonic fabric of her fingerstyle guitar playing. A visual artist, Rebecca conjures images with her lyrics to insert you into pictures from her own imagination. From soft, autumnal landscapes, to dark, Narnian scenes, each song is a journey into a new story. Her honest voice and beautiful songs will absolutely charm you.

Robin Bienneman is a singer & songwriter from Chicago. His wickedly funny and poignant original songs mix contemporary themes with old musical styles. He combines dry humor and sophisticated songwriting with a deep sense of history. He revels in the delicious history of Chicago music. He combines Blues, Jazz, Country and Latin music with fingerstyle guitar to create a playground for his lyrical musings on science, animals and the whole scope of human experience. His songs are poetic, comical and educational. A flow of images ranging from vampires, insects, dinosaurs, dodo birds, work and romance.
Robin has shared the stage with Dan Hicks, Christine Lavin, Junior Brown & Southern Culture on the Skids. He performs regularly solo, with his trio, and as a duo with his wife Jenny Bienemann. With his duo Twang Bang he toured the U.S. and Japan.

Ryan Suzuka started playing harmonica in his home state of Hawaii, and later started playing ukulele and singing for others in the city of Chicago. That’s probably why his harmonica playing can be as lush as it is gritty, while his songs are often bluesy as they are beautiful. As a singer songwriter he has performed at places ranging from private house shows to The Glassell School of Art in Houston, TX. As a harmonica player he’s performed at The Ryman Auditorium, the State Fair of Texas and on American Idol. He currently plays harmonica for the band Thompson Springs. Find more of Ryan’s music here:

Sue Fink
Chicago-based singer-songwriter Sue Fink has been enchanting audiences since 2001 with her whimsical perspective on the world. She is a witty social commentator and perceptive observer of the human condition. Her genre is folk with a hint of jazz, a large dollop of humor, and a drop of sadness for good measure: think Christine Lavin, with a dash of Rickie Lee Jones, Melanie, and Nellie McKay. In a term coined by CatBird band-mate Jane Godfrey, she calls her style “urban campfire cabaret
Sue’s original songs have received national and local airplay on numerous folk shows, including “The Midnight Special” (Rich Warren, WFMT) and “Folk Festival” (Lilli Kuzma, WDCB). She performs mostly in the Midwest, and has also toured both coasts.
