The Raging Klamath: Remembering A Playground of Plenty

A compelling true story of a young girl growing up where the mighty Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean in northwest California. Spanning the boom years of 1950 to 1965, Moore interweaves the uniqueness of this once thriving community with local history and colorful accounts of her resilient family and friends as they face one challenge after another. Along this “perfect river,” the glory of Mother Nature pulsated in the massive redwood forests filled with wildlife and waterways teeming with fish. Tourists came from far and wide to experience the thrill of the famous Daredevil boat races and the electrified air of a flourishing hunting, fishing and logging culture. Always, through thick and thin, low tides and high water, the close-knit, sometimes wild community held tight to each other through untold hardship and devastating natural disasters. The Raging Klamath provides a riveting account of a lost era with timeless perspective and heart.
