Arts Alive, Saturday the 6th of September 2025.
6-9 pm
The Gallery at Uncoded Studio is excited to host The Commons, a photography exhibition by Jacquelyn Stuber.
The Commons is an exploration and celebration of public lands. The photographs were shot on 35mm film in Humboldt, Trinity, Del Norte and Mendocino counties at National and State Parks, Wildlife Refuges, public beaches, free campgrounds, Forest Service lands; spaces that escaped private ownership during the enclosure of the commons spurred by manifest destiny. Places that for now remain in the people’s hands.
The collection examines how the beauty of our surrounding environment connects us to the land, and how that relationship with the natural world is vital to protect. This bond is essential to create and sustain the care and power it will take to fight for a healthy planet, break the patterns of destruction of the colonizers before us, and create a future where all beings thrive together.
