Balladir Presents: Heroines Sarcastic Chamber-Folk, Performing Stories and Songs
Concerning Somewhat Obscure Or Otherwise Unknown Women From Various World Mythologies

Balladir, the folk-storytelling project led by artist and educator Travis Puntarelli, is proud to announce its newest production, Heroines. This one-of-a-kind performance blends original folk
music with theatrical storytelling, shining a light on some of the lesser-known ladies of world mythology. With wit, quirk, and glockenspiel, we will illuminate classic characters including the
Snow White Witch, Penta Mano-Mozza (the Italian princess with no hands), and the Old Norse Gunnlöð (the subterranean guardian of the mead of poetry). The show is educational and mytho-
historical, but not over-much. Full of delightful lyrical vignettes and employing traditional vaudevillian gimmicks (including crankies, train whistles, and marionettes), Heroines will bolster your heart.

Featured Artists

Travis Puntarelli is a multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, and educator who has spent more than twenty years weaving together folk traditions and experimental performance into modern chamber musicals. Fluent in piano and guitar, Travis brings a bardic presence to both classrooms and stages. Born in Bloomington, Indiana, he now directs the Songbirds folk music program in Southern Oregon, while performing regionally with Balladir. He is currently researching
ethno-astronomy and archaic grimoires in order to better remodel his labyrinth.

Bexx Rosenbloom of Philadelphia is an artist who dabbles in various styles of performance. A vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, puppeteer, and enabler of goofball antics, she began her
professional career at the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, where she studied Musicology and started the school’s first co-ed a-cappella group. By day, you
can find her working for the musician and worker owned cooperative Groupmuse, for which she is a part owner. In her spare time, she is an organizer for both New Jersey music festival Beardfest, and for the Burning Man winter regional Frostburn.
