After many years of waiting, live music has finally returned to Bailonga! This Wednesday, October 1st, the amazing tango pianist Alejandro Ziegler will be stopping at Bailonga as part of his solo piano tour around the country. Alejandro will be performing a selection of his own original, danceable tango compositions starting at 8:30PM.
This special event will also be a traditional night and refreshments will be provided. If you'd like to bring a finger food to share, it will improve the variety available for everyone! Tonight's event will cost a flat $10, and desk shifts are available as always.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alejandro Ziegler graduated in composition from UCA, where he also studied orchestral conducting and later taught as a tango professor. He is currently a PhD candidate in musicology, specializing in tango, and lectures internationally on the subject. He was selected through auditions to join the Orquesta Escuela de Tango, where he performed as a pianist for two years under the direction of renowned conductors Emilio Balcarce and Néstor Marconi. Shortly after, he founded the Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet, serving as director, composer, pianist, and arranger. With his quartet, he completed 12 extensive international tours—performing 175 concerts across Europe and 131 across North America—and recorded three albums, an EP, and music for films (2009–2019).
In 2024, he was awarded a grant from the Arts & Science Council of North Carolina to record 10 of his tango compositions for solo piano. This project, which premiered in Atlanta, Georgia, marked the beginning of his first solo piano tour, scheduled for fall 2025 across the U.S. and Canada. In 2025, he was further honored with the Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Foundation For The Carolinas for his project “Bridging Argentine Tango and American Roots Music: A Yearlong Journey into New Instrumental Horizons.”

-A 30-minute desk shift gets you in for free! First come first served to sign up for shifts, but there are virtually always open slots available.

New to our event? We are a friendly, casual, fun group of Argentine tango dancers who love to learn, experiment and dance to good music. On most nights, you’ll dance tango to a mixture of traditional, Nuevo and alternative (non-tango that’s fun to dance to) music and make sure to make it to our live music events and special guest instructors hosted multiple times a year.
