Raised on American Roots music in Eastern Tennessee, Daniel Kimbro is a multi GRAMMY-nominated musician with more than 20 years of experience performing, recording, and writing Roots music. As an accompanist Daniel has shared stages and studios with notable artists including Eric Clapton, Jerry Douglas, John Hiatt, The Transatlantic Sessions, Sarah Jarosz, and many others.
While his recording credits are numerous, his new solo album Carpet in The Kitchen best epitomizes Daniel’s experience as a writer, composer and arranger. This debut collection features lyrics set within musical scapes that evoke murder ballads and story-songs rooted in the folk traditions of Scotland, Ireland, England and his native Appalachia. The opening track, “Loyston,” remembers the upheaval brought by the displacement of his fellow Appalachians with the construction of the TVA dams, focusing on the inundation of the eponymous town in Northeast Tennessee. Guest appearances on Carpet in The Kitchen include Jerry Douglas on slide guitars, Mike Baggetta (Nels Kline, David Wax Museum) on electric guitar, and Jordan Perlson (Gary Burton, Becca Stevens, Snarky Puppy) on Drumset.
Known to listeners across the US, UK and Canada for his work with the folk-blues trio Harley Kimbro Lewis, Daniel continues to tour these regions with Sarah Jarosz, The Jerry Douglas Band, the Earls of Leicester and others. When time allows, Daniel can be found on bodies of water of any size with a fly rod in hand. He is a passionate advocate for the conservation of fisheries and watersheds near his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
