33rd Annual Scantic Spring Splash

The Scantic Spring Splash is an annual downriver canoe and kayak race held on the Scantic River in Connecticut. Often called the "unofficial start of spring" in north-central Connecticut, it attracts paddlers from across New England to navigate frigid waters and Class II rapids.

Date: March 28, 2026.
Course: The full 5-mile expert race begins at Quality Avenue in Somers and finishes at the South Maple Street Bridge in Enfield.
Novice Course: A shorter 2.5-mile course ends before the Route 191 bridge in Scitico, at a location off of Bailey Rd.

Registration will be held on race morning at the Powder Mill Barn (32 South Maple St, Enfield) beginning at 9:00 AM.
