In-Conversation: Garambi Baanj / Laughing Waters
Amanda Grant with Dr. Jane Woollard and Joanne Mott
Our In-Conversation series concludes with a journey into the magical Garambi Baanj / Laughing Waters precinct. The area, sacred to the Wurundjeri Woi-Wirrung people, is home to a section of the Birrarung (Yarra River) containing ancient eel traps, a delicate natural environment, and heritage buildings designed and built by Alistair Knox and Gordon Ford. For a number of years, the future of this area was in question, but today the fragile buildings and natural bushland are being restored and protected as part of a new artistic and ecological program.
