Join us for a campus walking tour that explores Elon University's deep connections to the diverse history and communities of Alamance County. This tour will journey through time, starting before Elon's founding in 1889 and extending into the Civil Rights Movement.
Starting Location: Elon University, Carol Grotness Belk Library Lobby | 308 North O'Kelly Avenue, Elon, NC 27244
Drawing insights from the 2020 Elon History & Memory Report, the tour will highlight aspects of African American history. You'll also gain a deeper understanding of the stories woven into Elon University's architecture and monuments.
Discover how the land and communities that shaped Elon's beginnings continue to resonate today.
Participants should expect about one mile of walking and time spent standing. In the event of rain, we will adjust the tour to remain mostly indoors or under covered walkways.
Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis on weekends. One option nearby is the McMichael Science lot located off E. Haggard Ave. There is also accessible parking outside the library, located off N. O’Kelly Ave.
