About this Event

Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation presents:

Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:30 to 9:15 PM (4:15 PM Registration)

In-Person | Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation - Elkins Park | Mayer Conf. Room

An accurate assessment of the movement problem is a necessary, but challenging, first step before establishing a personalized gait treatment plan.

Observation gait observation (OGA) is moderately reliable in identifying dysfunction. But it is a therapist’s experience level with gait biomechanics and OGA that is linked to increased reliability of gait analysis. Advanced clinical skills improve patient outcomes in a shorter timeframe.

Strengthen your assessment competencies during this hands-on, in-person workshop. This annual training session helps PTs confidently apply techniques for efficient gait and locomotion evaluation of individuals with and without neurologic impairments. Video examples and hands-on practice – with instructor feedback – help shore up assessment skills that can be immediately applied in inpatient and outpatient settings.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Apply structured frameworks to improve clinical decision-making.
  • Understand the strengths and limitations of different gait analysis techniques.
  • Organize gait observations into clear, manageable segments.
  • Explore efficient gait patterns in both high- and low-level ambulators.
  • Exclusive Tool! Learn about the 4-point Moss-Magee Aspects of Walking (MMAWS) method.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES—PARTICIPANTS WILL:

  • Identify the phases of normal gait and critical function of each phase.
  • Identify (3) common gait deviations seen in traditional observational gait analysis.
  • Describe (3) frameworks for analyzing gait, including identification of one particular strength for each.
  • Analyze video examples of movement and discuss observed deficits.
