On the weekend of the Autumnal Equinox...Hard Knox Games presents: Hold Back The Darkness 2024: a Shadows of Brimstone Convention.
Cost: Adult attendee passes will be $75 each, accompanying minors passes will be $50 each. There is a registration link at (TO BE ADDED) to allow attendees to sign-up.
We will be doing a T-shirt order for participants that will close on (DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED). Attendance fees will be used to cover costs of the T-shirts, the event, materials, and remaining funds will be used for prize support. Any and all materials provided by Flying Frog will be used for the direct support of this event.
This will be a three day family friendly event which will NOT focus on adult themes or allow alcoholic beverages. Obviously some of the narratives, enemies, and descriptions in these games are more appropriate for a PG13 audience but we will allow parents to make the call as to what their cut-off is for experienced gamer attendees. Minors must be chaperoned with a guardian in their vicinity who will be responsible for their safety and actions.
There will be ample organized and free-form gaming opportunities. There will be lots of opportunities to socialize and talk about our favorite hobby. The list of activities may also expand based on attendee feedback. These activities could include: a painting competition, painting classes, a swap meet.

Hard Knox Games can comfortably accommodate 25+ concurrent games of up to 6 players each on 4x6 or 4x8 wargaming tables with room to spare for other activities.
This event will use all released Shadows of Brimstone products including: Swamps of Death, City of the Ancients, Forbidden Fortress, Gates of Valhalla, Valley of the Serpent Kings, and all the otherworlds. We are counting on many attendees to bring their favorite copy of the core game or their favorite otherworld in order to "host a table" for adventuring parties. These hosts will maintain their own game, ensuring it is cared for and will not need to have it available outside of their own use during hosting. Ideally we will be able to rotate through many of the games brought by various hosts over the course of the weekend to ensure that folks are free to enjoy the experience without the need to continually host a table should they not wish the responsibility. We will also have a drawing for table hosts with each one getting a ticket in the drawing for each game session they host.
Players should plan to bring their favorite character(s) that they want to get some games in with. We will not formally track experience, gold, or gear but we will have a leveling mechanic where all players will be able to "level-up" periodically throughout the Convention to ensure that our games ramp up in threat and skill level as the convention progresses. Players are also welcome to use the One Shot cad decks to play their own unique games.
Hard Knox Games is within a days driving distance of 2/3rds of the US population. We are handicap accessible and have a variety of lodging options within 10 miles that range through the spectrum of pricing. We will announce food truck availability as the time nears. Hard Knox Games also has a history of hosting large multi-day tournaments, but this will be our first convention...and one we hope to repeat year after year.
Hard Knox Games will also offer a pre-sale for this event on their website wherein customers can pre-order Shadows of Brimstone (and other) items for store pick-up during their visit to the Convention. Pre-ordering these items will make it possible for Hard Knox Games to do their absolute level best to get in and hold in your name all the gaming product currently available to meet your gaming desires.
