THE ELGIN MAIN STREET BOARD, THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION, AND THE ELGIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ARE JOINING FORCES WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS TO CELEBRATE SHOP SMALL SATURDAY ON NOVEMBER 29TH.
Small Business Saturday celebrates and encourages consumers to shop and support local businesses. When you shop locally, you are investing in the future of your community. Your money is going directly towards supporting the livelihood of small business owners and their families. These business owners are more likely
to reinvest their earnings in the local area. When small businesses are thriving, the community benefits.
+ To celebrate Shop Small Saturday, the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Group are hosting a Cash Mob + Mimosas on Main Street event to boost foot traffic and support local businesses. Community members are encouraged to bring friends, shop locally, and commit to spending at least $25 downtown. As a thank-you for supporting independent retailers, attendees will be treated to free mimosas or other libations served at stations throughout the district. There will also be a donation-based Christmas wrapping station at 30 N Main from10am-1pm.
Over 100 locally owned businesses in downtown Elgin and several hundred in Elgin overall – every time you choose to shop locally, secure a service locally, use a local bank, realtor, attorney, or financial advisor – you are supporting a local business
– who employs local people and invests in Our Town!
