October is Homecoming Month and Los Milics is staging a stellar celebration! On October 26, Chef Stacey Schulz (McDevitt) who describes herself as a cook, baker, and part culinary traveler will return to Arizona to cook for our Fourth Chef’s dinner. Her menu is a five-course love letter to the flavors of fall. Joining her in the kitchen is Jackie Cachia Jacobson. The two met and cooked together at restaurant Pasta Viola in New York and then both headed out to Arizona to attend culinary school. Recently they have been traveling and cooking together again.
Stacey came to Arizona to attend culinary school and, with her former partner, co-owned Restaurant Hapa & Mika Asian Grill in Scottsdale. She taught cooking classes at The Farm at South Mountain and Sweet Basil Cooking School. After 10 years in the Valley, she and her family relocated to Napa Valley, California for new opportunities and co-owned Restaurant Budo, where she worked with our own Pavle Milic.
She moved back to her birthplace in New York in 2007 and makes her home on the East end of Long Island as Executive Chef at Copper Beech by the sea, in Bellport Village. She cooks for retreats, private clients, and events including Isabella Rossellini’s organic farm and B&B, Mama Farm.
“I was influenced to choose a career in culinary arts by many great cooks in my life and strong influential women including my mother, grandmother, and aunt, all resourceful women who know how to gather people around the table.” Stacey said. A sought-after chef who loves to travel, Stacey has traveled and cooked in Europe, Singapore, Asia, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, which has given her the opportunity to pursue a passion for exploring cultures and both sweet and savory cooking. And she’s found time to do dinners at the James Beard House.
