Seed Saving - Free In-Garden Workshop

Join the UC Master Gardeners of Contra Costa County for this free gardening workshop on Seed Saving, including how to save seed from your favorite heirloom tomatoes!

The address is 7250 Portola Drive in El Cerrito.

Directions: from Moeser Lane, turn onto Navellier Drive, then onto (one way street!) Portola Drive. The entrance to the garden is on the left side of the street. There is plenty of street parking.

This hands-on workshop will focus on saving seeds from food crops and is designed to build local resilience. By learning to save and share seeds adapted to our region, you’re not just gardening — you’re building a living legacy and helping grow a community-based seed shed for future generations. Join us and learn the ancient and essential skill of saving seeds!

Location note: the garden is covered in deep mulch, the terrain is uneven; the nearest toilet facility is at the El Cerrito Community Center, about a block away.
