Shooting in Manual Mode
Learn to take control of your DSLR in this hands-on session. We'll cover shooting in full manual, demystifying the exposure triangle: ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, and how each setting affects the others. You'll explore depth of field, use your zoom lens to make your subject stand out from the background, and work with natural light and shadows, plus on-camera flash to tame harsh sun. Out in the field we'll practise by photographing portraits of one another, stepping through aperture changes from f/8 to your lens's lowest f-stop while adjusting shutter speed and ISO for correct exposure. We'll also touch on landscape fundamentals, including the rule of thirds, balancing foreground and background, and using natural lines to lead the eye to your subject.
What to bring to the class:
DSLR Camera, Charged Camera Batteries, Camera Memory Card, (Not needed but bring if you have it, Camera Tripod & Camera Flash)
