This month’s Sketch Meet will be at the Alberta Aviation Museum (11410 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 0X3)
The Alberta Aviation Museum is dedicated to keeping Edmonton’s rich aviation history alive. Their historic World War II hangar has more than 30 aircraft on display, a restoration area, gift shop, simulators, and a large events facility.
This month tends to be our shoulder month for outdoor sketching. If it’s nice we can sketch the outside of museum which is the only double-long, double-wide hangar of its type left. If it’s cooler we’ll head indoors and sketch in the museum. Or you can do both! There is a fee to enter the museum $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, & 10.50 for youth.
The museum does not allow large bags but have given us permission to bring in small bags with our sketching materials. I encourage everyone to pack light for this one. I’m told there is some seating in the museum and if anyone needs a chair, or there isn’t enough, we are able to access a few from their Education Space.
We’ll meet at the front doors. Outside if it’s nice, inside if it’s cooler. At 1 pm we’ll meet back at this spot to share sketches and take a group photo. Afterwards we’ll head across the street to the Ricki’s All Day Grill (11431 Kingsway NW, Edmonton) for lunch, snacks and socializing.
