Edmonds Bookshop will host an event with author Nicola Pearson, who will be discussing her novel Sanctified, which is historical fiction based on the true story of The Women’s Commonwealth of Texas. In 1870, this group established the first safe house for women and became so successful in business, they inspired an entire community to change their perception of what women could achieve.
Nicola Pearson is an award-winning playwright, novelist and mystery writer and a founding member of Women’s Work Productions. She grew up in England, where she first discovered her love for the stage, then acted in France, and New York City before a chance encounter took her to the Skagit Valley of Washington State. There she met her future husband and began a journey of a different kind, writing plays alongside his work as a studio potter.
Nicola is the author of four novels, four short mysteries, and three children's picture books in addition to her plays, which have been have been blossoming on local stages of late thanks to Women’s Work Productions’supporters. A performer at heart, Nicola loves the intimate setting of bookstore readings.
The event is free and all are welcome to attend the discussion. The author will be signing her books afterwards.
