The City of Edmond will hold a community meeting on October 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Edmond City Hall (22 E. Main Street) to gather public input on the next phase of the 2nd & Broadway Corridors Study. This study examines potential improvements along South Broadway and East 2nd Street.
Building on community input from the first round of engagement in June and July of this year, the City and its consultants have developed conceptual alternatives to make traveling and using these corridors safer, easier, and more accessible for everyone.
The second round of public engagement will give those who attend the opportunity to review conceptual alternatives for the corridor, learn about the analysis results, and provide feedback to help refine the draft corridors plan.
In addition to the community meeting, the City will continue targeted stakeholder interviews to gather input from key corridor users and organizations.
The study focuses on how the corridors transition from highway to downtown, with an emphasis on improving traffic flow, multimodal connections, and redevelopment opportunities. Using input from community members and stakeholders, the project team developed conceptual alternatives guided by the project goals – mobility, congestion management, safety, multimodal accommodation, and regional connectivity.
What does this mean for Edmond residents, employees, and visitors?
• Safer intersections and roadways for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users
• Improved traffic flow to reduce congestion and travel delays
• Better connections for walking, biking, and transit, giving residents more ways to get around
• Support for redevelopment opportunities that can strengthen downtown, the corridors, and surrounding neighborhoods
