We're absolutely chuffed to have the Hot Jazz string quartet Viper Swing play at the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club!
The band's infectious rhythms, joyful improvisations and gravelly vocals blend to evoke the Swing-Era spirit of the 1920s to 1940s. The band sets toes to tapping, hips to swaying and hearts to singing. Its repertoire includes works of the legendary Gypsy Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, songs from the Great American Songbook and original compositions - along with Swing arrangements of modern Pop songs. Fantastic live Jazz for listening and for dancing fast and slow Swing, Foxtrot and Quickstep, Jive and more.
Viper Swing performs regularly in its home town, Edinburgh, and around the United Kingdom, including the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Callander Jazz Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, Knockengorroch World Cèilidh and Eden Festival. The ensemble's musicians are Dirk Ronneburg on violin and as vocalist, Paul Paterson and David Midas on guitar and Chazzy Pulcino on double bass.
The Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club offers on Fridays live Jazz music in a relaxed club house atmosphere, with a bar and an excellent, wooden dance floor. The music is generally suitable for dancing Foxtrot and Swing (Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa). Come along to listen to superb Jazz and to dance the evening away!
No need to book in advance, just come along! The entry fee is £12 for non-members and £10 for members. Entry is free for accompanying carers and accompanied children. The fee can be paid at the door by card and cash. The main entrance is from Bangholm Terrace, with step-free access from Warriston Gardens corner Inverleith Row.
