NUJ Edinburgh & District Branch presents a special screening of Vika's Last Assignment, a documentary investigating the M**der of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna in Russian captivity.
We are delighted that we will be joined by Viktoriia Grivina, who will give a short introduction to the documentary and stay for a discussion afterwards.
Viktoriia is a writer and cultural anthropologist from Kharkiv, Ukraine. She writes personalised essays and short stories in the genres of creative non-fiction, magical realism, and absurdist comedy.
She is the author of an essay collection, (Ibidem, 2025), and a co-author of (Ibidem, 2025).
In 2023 her memoir proposal, Potatoes and Other Hobbies, was short-listed for the Nan Shepherd Prize for underrepresented authors.
In 2024 she was short-listed for Creative Future non-fiction award and received the first prize of Dream Foundry fantastic fiction competition for the story, In The Exploding Silence.
Her PhD study at St Andrews University is dedicated to the cultural transformations of cities during war.
This free event has been organised in partnership with the Edinburgh University Ukrainian Society and the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign Scotland (USCS).
We invite attendees to make a donation towards the the IFJ/EFJ Safety Fund for Journalists in Ukraine when registering. Cash donations at the event are also welcome.
