About the event

RAILWAYS, INDUSTRY & THE ABBEYHILL COLONIES
RAILWAYS, INDUSTRY & THE ABBEYHILL COLONIES
Speaker: Hetty Lancaster

We continue our local history talks programme sponsored by Edinburgh900 with an exploration of how 19th-century industrialisation — and the arrival of the railways — transformed
the Abbeyhill area, shaping both the landscape and the lives of its residents. Hetty Lancaster is a local historian with a special interest in the city's social and urban history. Actively involved in Edinburgh's heritage sector, she offers walks and talks to individuals and groups interested in discovering more about the city's past through her business Hetty's History Walks: Edinburgh
Uncovered.

Sunday 21 September 2025
10:00–11:00am (Doors & refreshments from 9:30am)
Abbeyhill Primary School, Abbey Street, EH7 5SJ
Free entry – all welcome!

Optional walking tours available from The Hive after the talk.
