From insight to impact brings together people professionals, academics and students to bridge the gap between emerging and existing AI knowledge and practical application in the workplace. Fostering dynamic conversations and knowledge exchange is the crux of this event to aid in shaping AI use and impact in organisations.
Our first speaker, Dr Luciana Blaha from Heriot Watt University, brings a deep understanding of the theoretical underpinnings and empirical research and application of AI having worked in the public, private and third sector before moving to academia. Luciana leads the Intelligent Automation Systems (IAS) lab at Heriot-Watt University and is a part of the Human Factors Team in Transit, the UK's Digital Twin for Transport Decarbonisation Hub. Luciana’s work focuses on organizational behaviour and Intelligent Automation systems with projects focused on on public sector AI adoption and procurement, digitalisation maturity projects, and digital twin modelling, use and impact.
Complementing this academic perspective, we have Sarah Horne, Executive Director of HR Transformation at Oracle UK and Ireland, who is a passionate HR transformation specialist and people leader. Sarah has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in various aspects of HR transformation, managing large scale business change globally from a HR point of view. Sarah has a particular passion surrounding employee experience and how it is optimised through modern HR operating models, cloud HR technology, including GenAI, Agentic AI and HR analytics.
Together, our speakers will offer a comprehensive view of AI practices and challenges, blending real-world applications with scholarly analysis. Through their combined expertise, we will gain a deeper understanding of how organisations can utilise AI to create effective and sustainable working environments. Participants will have the chance to contribute, pose wicked problems and challenges they are grappling with, engage in conversations and connections to exchange ideas whilst debating the implications of AI with peers and the speakers.
Sponsored by Heriot-Watt University and the CIPD in South East Scotland Branch, this event is targeted at practitioners, policy makers and academics interested in sharing views and perspectives. The aim is to foster and encourage collaborative discussions exploring AI in HRM from both theoretical and practitioner perspectives.
