Come celebrate the vibrant hues of autumn while photographing among the plants, trees and colonial-era buildings of Historic London Town & Gardens in Edgewater on Saturday, November 1st. All levels of photography experience welcome!
Local photographer Peter West will conduct the small-group, three-hour photo workshop which will concentrate on techniques for richer, more vibrant images. We'll explore light direction, color harmony, white-balance, exposing reds/yellows, and simple compositions.
Choose to concentrate on landscape or macro specialties while roaming the historic site at the historical peak of fall foliage in Anne Arundel County.
A half-hour classroom session will precede hands-on instruction and plenty of practice “in-the-field.”
Participants at all levels of photography are welcome and should bring:
Their own camera (DSLR/mirrorless/or cellphone)
Any lens (a mid-range zoom or 50mm works well)
A fully charged battery
Memory card
Comfortable shoes, water, and weather-appropriate clothing
Optional equipment would include: a polarizing filter and a tripod and cable release
Cost: Members $26, Non-Members $36. Limit of 15 participants.
About the workshop leader:
A lifelong Anne Arundel County resident, Peter West has spent more than 40 years in journalism and public relations, including roles at the Maryland Gazette, Annapolis Capital, and the National Science Foundation’s Office of Polar Programs. Now retired, he devotes his time to artistic photography, with works displayed at Maryland Hall, the Maryland Federation of Art, BWI Airport, and in a solo show at Quiet Waters Park. A member and past vice president of the Muddy Creek Artists Guild, he was awarded Outstanding 2D Artist at its spring show and recently co-led a photography workshop at Historic London Town & Gardens. He also continues to shoot news assignments at the National Press Club and has combined his passion for scuba diving with photography, capturing striking underwater imagery.
