Seraph Brass, a world renowned all-women brass quintet, will conduct a public masterclass prior to their concert on November 15th at the Edgerton Performing Arts Center at 200 Elm High Dr. Edgerton, Wisconsin 53534. The masterclass will be at 4PM-5PM and local brass players/any age (Middle/highschool/college/amateurs) are invited to come and play for Seraph Brass. The masterclass is open to the public to view as well. The group will conclude the session with a Q&A.
Classical trumpeter and founding member of Seraph Brass, Mary Elizabeth Bowden is a highly in-demand soloist, praised for her “splendid, brilliant” playing. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music, and her Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, she is currently Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Shenandoah Conservatory. Joining Bowden for the masterclass and concert are Seraph Brass members:
Morgen Low - Trumpet. Morgen holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory.
Layan Atieh - French Horn. Layan is a Palestinian-Jordanian-American horn player currently residing in Chicago, Illinois. Layan completed her undergraduate studies at the Peabody Institute, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University. She earned her Master’s degree in 2024 at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Lauren Casey-Clyde - Trombone. Lauren serves as the Assistant Professor of Trombone & Euphonium at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX. Lauren received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 2024 and holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University.
Claudia Shassberger - Tuba. Claudia aims to break traditional stereotypes and showcase the instrument's versatility beyond its perceived "oom pah" role. Claudia recently graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently pursuing her masters at the Peabody Conservatory.
