March Break at Sugar Valley brings together outdoor fun, friendship, and real-life diabetes skills.
This energizing two-day March Break camps blends outdoor adventure, movement, and community, designed especially for kids and youth living with type 1 diabetes.
Spend time in the forest enjoying classic winter activities like snowshoeing, campfires, group games, and fresh air fun. Warm up in our yurt or by the wood stove in a cozy cabin. Take part in maple syrup making at the Sugar Valley sugar shack - we’ll explore the maple syrup process and enjoy this sweet Canadian tradition firsthand. 🍁
Throughout the program, we’ll check blood sugars, problem-solve in real time, and share practical strategies for staying active while managing diabetes.
Thursday March 19: Day 1 – Youth 12+
Day 1 is designed for youth ages 12 and up who are ready to challenge themselves, try new activities, and connect with other T1Ds. Participants will build independence, teamwork, and confidence while learning how to manage diabetes during physical activity.
Youth who attend Day 1 have the option to return for Day 2 in a leadership role, supporting younger participants and developing leadership skills.

Friday March 20: Day 2 – Kids 11 & Under
Day 2 is a full-day drop-off program for children ages 11 and under, running from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Kids will enjoy a fun-filled day of outdoor play, winter exploration, and age-appropriate diabetes education in a safe, supportive, and supervised environment.
Pack your low supplies, adjust your basals, and bundle up - at Sugar Valley, diabetes doesn’t hold us back - it comes along for the adventure. ❄️🔥
