Join us for an immersive evening where two fearless improvisers—tenor saxophonist Art Edmaiston and drummer/composer Steve Hirsh—embark on a sonic journey of intuitive interplay and spirited expression.
About the Artists:
Art Edmaiston is a Memphis-based saxophonist, improviser, and composer known for his “Ecstatic Energy Music.” His voluptuous tenor sax tone, forged through blues, R&B, and spiritual traditions, is both rich and raw. Raised in Troy, Tennessee, and steeped in the musical heritage of Beale Street, Edmaiston’s past collaborations include legends like Gregg Allman, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Little Feat, Stevie Wonder, and JJ Grey & Mofro.
Steve Hirsh is a Minnesota-based drummer and improvisational composer with two decades of leading ensembles in real-time composition. He has performed alongside luminaries such as William Parker, Joel Futterman, Matthew Shipp, Daniel Carter, Ivo Perelman, and Eri Yamamoto. His recent album Root Causes (April 2025), featuring intimate, unadorned improvisations, highlights his raw and evolving artistry.
