Don't miss this book launch & "Welcome Home Party" for poet Leila Chatti, winner of multiple awards and national acclaim for her work. The event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 14th, 4 PM in the Copper Chimney Lounge of the University United Methodist Church, 1120 South Harrison Rd., East Lansing — just across the street from MSU and directly north of the Trowbridge Shopping Center.
The afternoon event will also feature an Open Mic for local poets who would like to share a poem. Throw your name in the basket at the Gate Table.

Leila Chatti is a Tunisian-American poet who came of age in East Lansing, graduating from East Lansing High School and also the Residential College in Arts and Humanities at MSU.
In addition to her latest collection of poetry, Chatti is the author of Deluge (Copper Canyon Press, 2020), winner of the 2021 Levis Reading Prize, the 2021 Luschei Prize for African Poetry, and longlisted for the 2021 PEN Open Book Award. Her honors include multiple Pushcart Prizes and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, and Cleveland State University. Her poems appear in numerous literary journals. In 2017, she was shortlisted for the Brunel International African Poetry Prize, and in 2023 was recognized with the Young Alumni Award at Michigan State University. She currently teaches in the low-residency MFA program at Pacific University and is a Provost Fellow at the University of Cincinnati, where she lives.
