Hagaman Library's Shakespeare Reading Club Meeting: King Lear

Hagaman's Shakespeare Reading Club will again meet on Thursday, September 25th at 6:30pm at the East Haven Senior Center on 91 Taylor Avenue to discuss their latest selection, "King Lear." Please also stop by our Pop-Up Library at the Senior Center, which runs on Tuesdays from 9:30am - 2:30pm and Thursdays from 9:30am - 8pm, save for the third Thursday of the month.

Based on the Welsh mythological figure Leir of Britain, "King Lear," in preparation for his old age, divides his power and land between his daughters Goneril and Regan, who pay homage to gain favor, feigning love. The King's third daughter, Cordelia, is offered a third of his kingdom also, but refuses to be insincere in her praise and affection. "King Lear" has been regularly cited as one of the greatest works of literature ever written!
