The Christmas Bird Count is the longest-running community science event in the world. For 126 years, people have gathered together for a day during the holiday season to count every bird they see and record their data. This data is valuable for understanding bird populations and how they are changing. Walking Mountains manages two circles, and we need volunteers to help us survey for birds.
8:30 am: Meet at Yeti's Grind in Eagle, Colorado
We will split into groups and survey specific sections from 9am - 1pm. Many sections are most easily surveyed by car, and we rely on participants' willingness to carpool with others. After surveying, we will meet at Second Street Tavern in Eagle, Colorado, to turn in data sheets, share about our day, and celebrate our successes.
