Pecatonica River Paddle – Trask Bridge Road to Two Rivers Forest Preserve
Saturday, August 30, 2025
Meet at Trask Bridge Forest Preserve (on Route 70 northwest of the river) at 9:07 AM. The canoe launch is northwest of the Pecatonica River as shown below. Shuttle starts at 9:37 AM; plan to be on the water by 10. The river offers a winding course with some obstacles; current is usually slow but can be stronger at high water. Bring lunch or snacks—we’ll pause along the way if possible. I’ll give beginner tips before we launch. Please note: Water levels are currently high due to recent rain in Wisconsin; route may change or trip may be cancelled if conditions persist.
Trip distance is approximately 12 miles (about 4.5 hours, weather permitting). Host: Jeff Reuter (815-494-8502).
Participants must:
• Provide their own canoe/kayak, paddle(s), PFD/life jackets and wear PFDs on the water
• Be accompanied (minors with adults)
• Sign waiver
• Bring drinking water, lunch, dry bag/change of clothes
Stateline Paddlers, Friends of the Pecatonica, Prairie State Canoeists, and guests welcome. Map attached.
