Artists Kate Watts and Kyla Cresswell will guide participants through the process of creating their own unique handmade gift tags, wrapping paper and a fabric furoshiki wrap. Learn how to use hand-carving tools to make re-useable stamps to print and take away your new gift giving items.
You’ll take home your own hand printed brown paper gift wrap, a fabric furoshiki wrap to re-use again and again, and a hand-carved stamp to continue creating with at home.
This workshop is suitable for all experience levels aged 11 and up. All participants under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the session.
Kate Watts is a textile designer and manufacturer based in North East Valley, with a Bachelor of Design (Craft) from Christchurch Polytechnic, and a Masters in Visual Arts in Textiles from Otago Polytechnic. She has a creative practice that includes teaching and spans watercolour painting, screen printing and a rekindled addiction to block printing!
Kyla Cresswell is an Ōtepoti based artist and printmaking tutor who often teaches workshops around the region and regularly at Among the Sparrows. Kyla holds a BFA from the Otago School of Art and delights in the fine lines of drypoint and crisp bite of embossing. Her work is held in collections nationally and overseas.
