Discover the healing power of sound and the beauty of the Gulf on Saturday, July 19th. Meet at DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY just before the bridge on the left at 6:30 PM for a peaceful floating sunset sound bath. We'll gently paddle out into the ocean to our sacred spot and incorporate some light somatic release stretching and breathing exercises to prepare for a 45 minute sound bath in savasana.
The water's unique properties enhance the sound vibrations, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. The evening culminates in a sunset paddle back to the park as the sun paints the sky with vibrant hues.
Bring your own SUP, towel, and water bottle. (Note: Dolphins may make an appearance!🐬)
Space is limited~Register early!
Other Important Info:
Please make sure to bring your own paddleboard & anchor to the event. You can buy an anchor on Amazon for under $20. We highly recommend bringing a waterproof phone case to capture stunning sunset moments. A wet/dry bag will help keep your towel and other essentials dry. Using an anchor can help make your board more stable.
For your safety and peace of mind, wearing a life jacket is advised if you feel more comfortable. Please note that participation in the water is at your own risk, and it’s important to be confident in ocean conditions. We are not responsible for your safety in the ocean.
The event will proceed on the water only if weather conditions are favorable. In case of rain, lightning, or strong winds, we will have to postpone. Alternatively, you may opt for a full refund.
What is “Somatics”?:
Light “somatics" generally refers to a gentle, mindful approach to body awareness and movement practices that emphasize softness, ease, and subtle sensations. The term "somatics" relates to the internal perception of the body—focusing on how we feel and experience our physical presence from within. When paired with "light," it suggests a practice that is gentle, non-invasive, and aimed at promoting relaxation, self-awareness, and healing through subtle, mindful movement or sensory exploration. These gentle movements are suitable for practitioners of all levels (no experience necessary)
Benefits of Breathing Exercises Before a Sound Bath:
Breathing exercises are particularly beneficial before a sound bath because they help calm the mind and body, reducing stress and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. They also prepare you to relax more deeply, lowering heart rate and blood pressure, and fostering mindfulness and present-moment awareness. This heightened state of relaxation allows the vibrations of the sound bath to resonate more effectively, enhancing its calming and healing effects. When experienced on a paddleboard in nature, especially by the ocean, these benefits become even more profound, as the natural environment amplifies feelings of tranquility and connection.
