Hey, Give-Backers! We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month (during the school year) to pack snacks and assemble Pack-A-Snack bags.
Pack-A-Snack is a program designed to help feed disadvantaged children in the greater Dunedin area over the weekend. The school's faculty—including teachers, social workers, and others—identify children who may not have enough food during the weekend. This program is offered through Pinellas County Schools (and community partners, such as us). Students who meet the criteria are eligible to receive a bag of healthy, pre-packaged snacks every Friday afternoon. The food is provided to the student at NO cost and can help supplement their food supply at home over the weekend.
** Note to Parents - If your student is found eligible, they will receive a permission slip at the beginning of each school year for you to sign and return to school. **
CONSIDER HEKLPING by purchasing healthy, pre-packaged, single-serving, ready-to-eat snacks and bringing them to the next Pack-A-Snack Packing Event (on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month during the school year - beginning in September).
Examples of pre-packaged, ready-to-eat, "healthy" snacks (all single-serving):
- JUICE (100% juice in boxes, not pouches)
- APPLESAUCE
- BEEF JERKY
- PEANUT BUTTER OR CHEESE CRACKERS
- BREAKFAST BARS
- READY-TO-EAT PASTA
- GRANOLA BARS
- MIXED FRUIT (canned or packaged only, no fresh fruit)
- PUDDING
- NUTS
- RAISINS
- TRAIL MIX
- FRUIT SNACKS
- CHIPS, POPCORN, OR CRACKERS
