Birds Otago: The Godwits of Southshore Spit - Ellen Hoy

Our speaker Ellen Hoy will talk about the godwits at Southshore (Avon Heathcote Estuary), having studied the same group of birds for the last 9 years. This will include histories, sightings and stories of their banded birds, examples of different plumage during the time they are here, and the chance to meet with the Korean birders when they were here through social media. Ellen has educated others about the birds through talks, and also postings on Facebook, and will also touch a little on the satellite tracked birds from Miranda, as I blogged about them for a few years.

Monthly Indoor Meetings run by the Birds New Zealand Otago Branch are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month starting at 7.30pm in the Benham Seminar Room, on the 2nd floor of the Zoology Benham Building in Central Dunedin. The doors need to be opened manually so please arrive early. All are welcome to attend. We also offer a zoom link, message Oscar directly if you would like it sent to you.
