October’s Light Hike will be to the beautiful trails of McDaniel Farm Park in Gwinnett County. This will be an easy 3-mile hike over the beautiful grounds of the historic McDaniel Farm. Many of the original buildings have been restored to their original condition. This is a real gem of a county park. Parking is free!
This will be an easy hike with a difficulty level of D-2 with a distance of 3.0 miles
No children or animals please.
Hiking Rating Scale:
D1 Easy (beginner hikers) mostly flat
D2 Easy to moderate (regular hikers) some hills
D3 Moderate (a cardio workout) mountainous
D4 Moderate to strenuous (challenging workout) Steep grades/agility
D5 Strenuous (serious physical challenge) Very steep and far

IMPORTANT: make sure you are coming in the front entrance off Old Norcross Rd to McDaniel Rd on the West Side of the Park. DO NOT GO TO THE PARKING LOT OFF DULUTH HIGHWAY WHICH IS EAST SIDE!
TIME: 10am – 12pm
WHAT TO BRING: Small Day Pack to carry your gear- rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, etc.

KEEP IN MIND: There are always dangerous and unforeseen elements when out in nature: Cliffs, water hazards, weather, animals, insects, reptiles, falling limbs or rocks, Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac, etc. Trails may be un-maintained, slippery, rocky, icy and have steep embankments. Shoes and clothing may get muddy or wet. The woods are your bathroom.
