Demystifying Sergers
Discover the secrets of the serger in this class about a useful-but-mysterious sewing machine. We’ll dig into how sergers (sometimes known as overlockers) work, offer some threading tricks, and demystify tension adjustments for clean, balanced stitches. You’ll explore the differences between 3-, 4-, and 5-thread machines and stitches, and learn how each setup is used in real-world sewing—from seam finishing and garment construction to knits and rolled hems. By the end of this class, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what’s really happening inside a serger, when it’s the right tool for the job, and how to troubleshoot issues before they bring your project to a halt. No serger? No problem. A small fleet of sergers will be provided, so there’s no need to bring your own.
