Hundreds of Sewa International volunteers from its 43 chapters across the nation will commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by participating in volunteer service as part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, commonly known as 9/11 Day.
September 11 was designated a National Day of Service by Congress in 2009 and is led by AmeriCorps, the federal agency for volunteerism and national service. AmeriCorps partnered with 911Day.org, a nonprofit that, along with 9/11 families initiated the 9/11 Day observance over a decade ago.
This year, the Atlanta Chapter has planned a service activity to clean up Mary Alice Park, followed by the Commemoration ceremony, providing an opportunity for our community to come together in service, reflecting the resilience and strength that unite us in the face of adversity.
