Welcome to another CAFFE GRANDE SLAM!
Up to 12 more poets fighting for your votes out of ten using their 3-minute slots to gain 1st place and possibly a wooden rhino as a prize (prizes vary) and includes a showcase spot the following month.
Food and beverages are available to purchase at the cafe and our winner from last month will be giving us 10min of their best.
Our headliner this month is:
Ayan Aden is Birmingham’s 24th Poet Laureate (2024–2026), the
youngest and first Somali Muslim to hold the title.
She is an international award-winning performance poet and consultant whose work blends the personal and political, exploring identity, migration, and belonging. Ayan has performed internationally, from Qatar to Turkey, and at TEDx, the Houses of Parliament, the BBC, and major festivals across the UK, as well as in schools, prisons, and community spaces.
She is also the founder of Somalinimo UK, a cultural platform
dedicated to promoting Somali arts and heritage.
