Dudley Castle — widely believed to be the most haunted castle in England.
As we pass through these ancient grounds, keep your senses sharp… for not all who wander here are living.
The Grey Lady, thought to be the ghost of Dorothy Beaumont. Dorothy died here in heartbreaking circumstances, shortly after childbirth, and her infant soon after. Visitors often report a pale woman drifting near the castle walls, or sometimes hear soft weeping carried by the wind 💨
Above the undercroft stands the Fourteenth-Century Chapel, its great window facing the courtyard. It’s in this window that a hooded monk has often been seen standing perfectly still. But when visitors alert staff, and they rush to look. There is never anyone there.
Some say he watches over the castle. Others say he guards a secret 🤫
In the 1700s, the 2 cottages that now only half stand in the grounds caught fire — claiming the lives of two young girls.
Today, visitors to the zoo have reported seeing two children playing, laughing, running…right up until the moment they vanish.
If you hear giggling when the field is empty, don’t worry — you’re not imagining it.
They’re just saying hello 👋
The castle’s darkest corner: the chapel undercroft.
Inside the Ancient Room lies a stone coffin that once held the remains of John Somery, one of the castle’s most feared Lords.
On many nights, people say they’ve seen a pair of legs standing beside the coffin… motionless… waiting.
And now comes the final question:
Would you dare lie in John’s coffin? 😱
Some who’ve tried claim they felt something climb in with them.
