Join us for an intensive two-day workshop designed to demystify the complex world of post-production. From the moment your footage leaves the set to the final delivery, this workshop will equip beginner to intermediate filmmakers and editors with the essential workflows, technical skills, and creative strategies needed to transform raw footage into a polished, professional film.

Learn industry best practices for managing your assets, crafting compelling narratives, collaborating effectively, and delivering a flawless final product. Our expert instructors will guide you through the entire post-production pipeline, ensuring your vision shines through every frame.

Day 1: Saturday, October 4th - The Foundation: Managing & Organizing Your Assets

9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Registration & Coffee

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Session 1 - Data Management & Ingest: The First Step to a Clean Edit

  • Basics: Understanding proper data handling from set to edit suite.
  • Best Practices: Securely ingesting footage, naming conventions, and creating robust backup strategies.
  • Gear & Software Overview: Discussion of essential hardware (RAIDs, LTO) and software for efficient data transfer and verification.


1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Lunch Break


2:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Session 2 - Dailies, Sync & Project Organization: Setting Up for Success

  • Dailies & Syncing: Efficient workflows for syncing audio and video, identifying good takes, and preparing your footage.
  • Project Organization: Strategies for structuring your project files, bins, and timelines for optimal collaboration and efficiency.
  • Collaboration Essentials: Best practices for working effectively in a team, including sharing projects and managing media.
  • Mid-Process Turnovers: Preparing sequences and media for seamless hand-offs to other departments (e.g., sound designers, colorists) during the edit.



Day 2: Sunday, Oct. 5th - The Craft: Storytelling, Sound & Finishing Touches


9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Coffee & Networking

10:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Session 3 - Crafting the Story: Editing Techniques & Director Collaboration

  • The Art of the Cut: Foundational editing techniques for pacing, rhythm, and building emotional arcs.
  • Working with Directors: Effective communication strategies, interpreting feedback, and maintaining the director's vision throughout the edit.
  • Pulling Selects & Working in Reels: Efficient methods for organizing and presenting your best footage, and managing longer projects.


12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Lunch Break


1:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Session 4 - Sound for Editors & Picture Finishing: Elevating Your Film

  • Sound for Editors: Understanding the importance of sound design, dialogue editing, temp mixing, and preparing for a professional sound mix.
  • Picture Finishing: An overview of color correction, basic grading principles, and preparing your picture for final delivery.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Session 5 - QC, Masters & Archival: The Final Steps

  • Quality Control (QC): Essential checks to ensure your film is technically flawless.
  • Creating Deliverable Masters: Understanding different export formats and specifications for various platforms (festivals, streaming, broadcast).
  • Archival Strategies: Best practices for long-term storage and preservation of your project files and masters.

5:00 PM - 5:30 PM: Closing Remarks & Final Q&A

  • A summary of key takeaways and an open forum for final questions.
  • A brief networking reception.
