Poetry Reading & Writing Workshop with Mary Gilliland

Join local author Mary Gilliland as she reads excerpts from In the Pool of the Sea's Shoulder and Red Tide at Sandy Bend along with an informal Q&A and signing. Following will be a half-hour long generative writing workshop with free-intuitive writing and word exchange. Adults and youth are welcome to join and any genre as well, just bring something to write on/with!

Mary Gilliland has published seven books of poetry including the award-winning The Devil’s Fools and, most recently, Red Tide at Sandy Bend. She is recipient of the Stanley Kunitz Fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and a Council on the Arts Faculty Grant from Cornell University, where she taught such courses as "Ecosystems & Ego Systems" and "America Dreaming." Recent honors include a residency at Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, set high on a cliff at the very edge of Western Europe, and the International Literary Seminars in Kenya/Fence 1st Prize in Poetry.
