Join Ranger Demetriou for an energetic, hands-on workshop designed to turn you into a Master of the Flame. Whether you’re a first-time camper or a seasoned traveler, Ranger Demetriou will lead you through the latest best practices for building, maintaining, and—most importantly—extinguishing a campfire in our unique West Tennessee ecosystem.
In this program, you will:
Build from the Ground Up: Work alongside Ranger Demetriou to identify the best tinder and kindling found right here in the park.
Master the "Log Cabin": and the "TeePee" Learn the most stable and efficient structural build for a controlled, beautiful fire.
The Science of the Soak: Participate in a live demonstration of the "Stir and Drown" method, ensuring your fire pit stays safe for the wildlife and the next campers.
Earn Your Status: Every attendee will get to perform the "Touch Test" and leave with the confidence to handle a campfire like a pro.
