The Bruce Mines Agricultural Society is very excited for this year's Central Algoma Exhibition (aka the Bruce Mines Fall Fair) held on September 5, 6, 7th.
Gates open Friday night at 4:30pm with Opening Ceremonies at 6:00pm followed by the ever-so-popular Demolition Derby! Come out to cheer on your favourite driver as they 'crash and smash' their opponent to be the 'Top Dog' of the derby. Be sure to see Sabina, Kathy and Marlee at the "kitchen on the hill" for all your food and beverage needs!
NEW events lined up on both Saturday and Sunday! On SATURDAY - NEW events this year are:
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND BEER GARDEN - Beginning around 4:30pm Saturday afternoon into the night!! We're super excited to have as this year's headliner THE LUXURY - a Tragically Hip tribute act!! Other bands include Dark Eyed Junko, Cloud Bandits, the Side Kicks. Come rock the night away with us! Must be 19 years and older to enter the beer garden. 'GROW A CHICK' program! Kids present their projects on how they did raising their chicks, getting them ready for the fair and are judged accordingly - did you know the chicken is a relative of the dinosaur? Be sure to come out to learn more cool facts about chickens!
BMAS HORSE GAMING POINT SHOW - If you love horses you're going to love this! For speed it doesn't get any better than this! Watch as riders maneuver their 1500 lb animal thru patterns and obstacles like barrels, weave poles, keyholes and more! The thrill and excitement of it all will make you want to become a cowboy/cowgirl!
BAKING AUCTION - Come bid on some of our local homemade baking in support of the Light Haven Christian Home front step project! Local auctioneer Mike Peever will be thrilling us with his auctioneering skills to raise money for this worth while cause!
On SUNDAY - NEW events this year are:
4H GOAT SHOWMANSHIP SHOW/DEMO presented by the Richards Landing 4H club followed by the BMAS 'KIDS' Open Goat Showmanship/Fun Show - All kids are super excited to showcase their skills at handling their goats and sharing their knowledge about this curious, agile, playful farm animal.
MULLET HAIR COMPETITION - Come show us your 'business at the front, party at the back' frock for a chance to be crowned the 'Best Mullet Hair in the Area'! Guest judges Marla McPhee, Bonnie Netherton, Howie Bowes and a surprise judge look forward to seeing who will win this prestigious title!
SENIOR YOUTH GAMES - Olympic style format but with a Barnyard twist! Cheer on your favourite competitor as they maneuver thru different games and obstacles trying to bring home that top prize! We heard there might be a pumpkin launcher - how cool is that!! Open to all youth ages 13 to 18!
