Characters that stay with us, whether on the page, on the screen, or in real life, share a common shape. That shape is the Character Diamond. It’s a simple tool with four points: a guiding North Star, an unexpected CounterStar, a visible Vulnerability, and a steady Core Identity. Together, these traits make a person…or a brand…feel real, memorable, and worth following.
In this five-hour virtual course, Chancellor Daniel Whittington will walk you through how Character Diamonds work and why they matter. You’ll see how great stories and strong voices are built, not from a list of traits, but from the tension between opposites. You’ll explore examples you already know like famous characters and familiar brands and learn to spot what makes them tick.
This isn’t a lecture. You’ll be building alongside Daniel. You’ll map a Character Diamond for someone else, then for yourself or your work. You’ll test it, adjust it, and discover how much clearer decisions become when you know the shape you’re working with.
By the end, you’ll have a Character Diamond of your own: a small, sturdy framework you can return to again and again whenever you need clarity, consistency, or a fresh burst of imagination.
