Trollcave, a band from Barcelona with personal overlaps with Sanctuarium, play an extremely slow and crushing mix of death and doom metal that often borders into funeral doom territory. Minimalist, ugly yet melancholic soundscapes with reverb-drenched vocals and dirge-like chord progressions that move in geological timescales and occasional violent outbursts – certainly not easy listening, but very rewarding for fans of the genre.

Prehistoric War Cult play a minimalist mix of Black and Death metal that does honor to their band name, delivering plenty of caveman riffs and primal, deranged blasts of aggression. While the songs of too many current bands that fall under the “war metal” umbrella tend to blend into a homogeneous mess that maximizes intensity rather than delivering actually working songs, Prehistoric War Cult stick out with plenty of simple-yet-effective riffs that manage to get stuck in your mind reliably. In addition, Prehistoric War Cult may be the only band of that ilk that actually manages to play a working Deutschpunk cover (Canal Terror’s “Zu Spät”).
