Diego Pinera "ODD WISDOM" - Kultur am Pavillon, Dresden

Diego Piñera has been nominated several times both internationally and nationally as a drummer ‘instrumentalist’ and as a songwriter since 2005, most recently being honoured with the GERMAN JAZZ AWARD 2023. He is considered an exceptional artist in his field. Born in Montevideo, he took part in jam sessions at the age of three and later studied at the University of Music in Havana and at Berklee College. In 2015, the album ‘My Picture’ was released, which critics described as a ‘masterpiece by one of the most interesting drummers of our time’. Diego Piñera establishes his style here, a combination of ‘odd metres’, crooked beats and melodic drumset entries. As a sideman, Diego Piñera is a guest at national and international festivals around the world, and with his album ‘Odd WISDOM’, in which he explores the liveliness and depth of the music, he has stepped out of the role of sideman. The bandleader and composer is now going on tour with his new album ‘Underground Roller Coaster’, which was recorded with his Berlin band featuring Peter Ehwald (sax), Igor Osypov (guit) and Marcel Krömker (bass). A musical and emotional rollercoaster awaits!
