Preparing Our Hearts for Advent
Families, individuals, and guests can expect about 30–45 minutes of hands-on Advent fun—plus a delicious breakfast featuring breakfast casseroles, fruit, grits, and (of course!) Ann Jackson’s famous cinnamon rolls.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
🌿 Advent Wreath Making: Create a wreath for your home. *If you are unable to make it to church in person with us this season, let us know and we will make an extra Advent wreath for you!
🎄 Family Photos & Handmade Frames: Capture a special moment and craft a one-of-a-kind frame. Your photo and frame will later become part of the Evergreen Family Christmas Tree displayed in the Narthex.
💌 Handmade Christmas Cards: Design and decorate cards to send to loved ones—and make a few extra for those in our extended Evergreen family, including members that are unable to join us during this celebratory season and those serving away from home.
📅 Advent Calendars: Choose from calendars for adults or children to help you mark each day of the Advent season with faith and reflection.
✝️ Chrismons Display & Tree Decorating: Learn about Chrismons, the beautiful white and gold Christian symbols that decorate our trees during Advent and Christmas. (The word “Chrismon” comes from “Christ monogram.” These ornaments remind us that every symbol—crosses, stars, doves, crowns—points back to the life and ministry of Jesus.) You’ll also have the opportunity to help place Chrismons on the tree in Fellowship Hall.
