Bee class
The Shady Creek Bee Farm � will host a one day Intro to Beekeeping class on Friday, April 17 2026 and Saturday, April 18 2026 from 8am to 4 pm. The class will be held at the Shady Creek Bee Farm, 908 Cochran Rd, Donald’s, SC (Greenwood County). There will be classroom and in-hive instruction. Cost: $80 per per person or $120 for two FAMILY members, ie: Couples, Parent/Child etc - this will include classroom material, and a thumb drive that will have a three volume text for reference. The class size will be limited to provide for personalized instruction. Equipment: If you have a veil, gloves and jacket, please bring them. There will be gloves and veils to loan for those that do not own any. PLEASE BRING YOUR SMOKER IF YOU HAVE ONE, this will be a great time to learn the correct way to light and keep your smoker lit. A laptop or tablet is optional. Please dress accordingly. You will need to wear closed shoes for safety. If you do not have a bee jacket, consider bringing a long sleeve shirt. No black or dark clothing. I highly recommend dressing or bringing outer clothes to put on for safety during the bee yard segments of the class. Please note that this DOES NOT INCLUDE LUNCH. Please bring your own snacks/sandwich and favorite beverage/ sports drinks to stay hydrated. Bottled water and some snacks will be provided. This is the perfect opportunity to see if beekeeping is for you and to start planning your apiary. Contact Ed Coleman at 864-942-7564 to register or for more information.
NOTE: there will be nucleus Hives and bee keeping equipment available. Quantities are limited so please let us know when signing up for the class if you are interested in making a purchase.
Ordering Bees early ensure that you will get Bees as they do sell out quickly in the spring. Bees will be available to take home from class if you pre-order along with Equipment and anything else you need.
