Disley Sunrise

Welcome to Freshwalks. This morning hike event is part of our own vibrant business community programme and everyone is welcome to join us for a day of hiking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

We're heading to Disley, Cheshire which sits on the fringes of the Peak District and provides easy access to Lyme Park. We intend to walk a circular loop, climbing upto a lofty vantage point near Bow Stones, which offers splendid views out across the Cheshire plains and higher peaks in the opposite direction. We'll return via Knightslow Wood, crossing through the park and drop back into Disley past the iconic Cage structure. Subject to progress, we'll stop for a short break at Timber Yard cafe to enjoy hot drinks and food if you like too. It's a classic route with the comfort facilities of the Park close by and rugged moorland vibes made very accessible.

Route: Disley - Gritstone Trail - Bow Stones - Knightslow Wood - Lyme Park - The Cage - Disley

07:45 - Meeting, Disley Station
08:00 - Walk starts
09:30 - Summit (400m, Lyme Park)
10:15 - Timber Yard Cafe (short break & toilets)
11:30 - Walk finishes, Disley

Parking: Pay & Display parking is available at The Ram's Head immediately next to the station. (Buxton Rd West, Disley, Stockport SK12 2AE)

Public transport: Please take the 07:21 train from Manchester Piccadilly calling at Stockport 07:34 and arriving in Disley 07:51. Trains return hourly.

Toilets: None at start but we plan to stop for a coffee and toilets inside the park
